We walked across the border from Zhuhai into Macau — no need for any transport at all, super convenient!
🚌 Once we crossed over, we hopped on one of the free casino shuttle buses heading into the city. Many of the big casinos offer these, so if you’re visiting Macau, it’s a great way to save on transport.
🍛 First stop? Food, of course. We headed straight for some classic Macanese dishes and ordered:
- Minchi rice (Portuguese-style minced pork on rice) — savory, rich, and incredibly satisfying.
- Portuguese red bean pork knuckle stew — sounds unusual, but it was surprisingly flavorful and comforting. We loved it so much we almost ordered a second round!
⛪ After filling our bellies, we took a stroll to Se Cathedral, then wandered around the Ruins of Saint Paul’s area, and eventually arrived at the beautiful Clube Militar de Macau. This historic building, with its colonial vibes, felt like a time capsule from old Europe — perfect for a few good photos.
🎰 Night = Casino time!
💡 Quick tip: If it’s your first time at a casino in Macau, many places offer free credits for new members. We signed up, got our credits, played a bit on the slot machines — and even managed to cash out a little. It’s like turning free fun into a small travel fund!
🛏 This was just a quick 2-day, 1-night getaway, but it was packed with delicious food, iconic sights, and a taste of casino life — totally worth it.
🥐 The next morning, we grabbed a warm, flaky Portuguese egg tart (because how could we not?), then caught a bus to the airport for our next destination: Malaysia!
