Discovering Tangier: A Memorable 2-Day Moroccan Adventure

I arrived in Tangier at midnight and bought a bottle of protein drink at a convenience store.

The hotel breakfast is really good.

The hammam bathing experience here is famous. As it’s a Muslim country, the bathing times and areas are separate for men and women.

Cinémathèque de Tanger

Cinémathèque de Tanger (CDT) is an art house movie theater situated in Tangier, Morocco. Established in 2006 by artist Yto Barrada, CDT occupies the refurbished Art Deco Cinéma Rif building in the Casbah district. Overseen by artist Sido Lansari, CDT stands as North Africa’s inaugural art house cinema and film archive. Renowned French architect Jean-Marc Lalo spearheaded the renovation of Cinéma Rif to accommodate this new film institution. Offering a diverse array of contemporary and classic films from over 20 nations, CDT also hosts workshops, masterclasses, a café, and an archive. As a nonprofit organization, it co-founded the Beirut-based Network of Arab Arthouse Screens (NAAS) and is an Associate of the Fédération Internationale des Archives du Film. Notably, CDT’s contributions to independent cinema were showcased in the multidisciplinary exhibition Album: Cinémathèque Tanger, curated by Yto Barrada and held at the Walker Art Center from 2013 to 2014.

Medina Tangier

Intense blue plinths, doors and windows accompany visitors on their stroll through Tangier’s medina: the most picturesque and iconic of the city’s various quarters. Bay of Tangier

The Tangier Bay (Arabic: خليج طنجة) is a bay situated near Tangier on the Mediterranean coast of northern Morocco. It delineates the stretch of water between the port and Cap Malabata, forming a semi-circular shape. Avenue d’Espagne skirts along the bay, renowned for its hotels and prominent modern establishments.
