Every Friday and Saturday in Tawau, at Jalan Chester, there is the largest night market in the entire town. This night market is predominantly Malay, with hardly any Chinese presence, and it attracts a substantial crowd. The most common stalls here are those selling second-hand clothes, and there are also many offering various food and drink options. Some stalls specialize in selling toys, but it’s safe to say that almost ninety percent of them are focused on selling second-hand clothes.
Besides selling goods, there are also inflatable forts for children to play in, electric toy cars for them to ride, and even mascots for customers to take photos with. Taking photos with the mascots typically requires a small tip, approximately 1 Malaysian Ringgit will be fine.
