Dragon Inn Floating Resort

Dragon Inn Floating Resort embodies the essence of traditional Bajau water villages, blending seamlessly with the local natural surroundings. Comprising 70 guest rooms, an open-air restaurant, a souvenir shop, and dive operators, all interconnected by walkways, it stands as a distinctive landmark in Semporna, fondly known as Semporna Floating by the locals. The resort gained prominence as one of the featured destinations for the international event Eco-Challenge 2000.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into a tranquil paradise adorned with local traditions, ensuring a comfortable and meaningful vacation experience. Dragon Inn offers simple yet charming and affordable lodging, boasting a breathtaking view of the serene sea. Many diving enthusiasts, like yourself, opt for this resort on the mainland as a cost-effective alternative to island accommodations. The resort serves as an excellent starting point for island adventures, with several dive operators on-site and ready-to-go boats.

Conveniently located not far from town, the resort provides easy access on foot or by road. The town center is just a short stroll away, and public transportation at the resort entrance facilitates travel to various destinations in Semporna, including Tawau Airport.

For me, because this resort was built several decades ago, the room amenities are a bit outdated and haven’t been renovated. There’s also a massage parlor where you can enjoy a massage with the sea breeze, but personally, I’m not a fan of getting a massage in the sea breeze—it leaves a sticky feeling on the skin. There’s also a bar here, and the ambiance is quite nice.
